Miraculous Music

Doing a bit of surfin’ this week, not the “real kind” but the Internet kind!! I was looking at the competition!! There are some interesting set ups, Sky has a channel now dedicated to fitness and there are many other sites which stream short sections of exercise videos.

It struck me how fortunate we are to be able to use the fantastic music we do and also what a privilege it is to have such an excellent team of Presenters. I know I am biased BUT having been connected with music, dance and exercise all my life I can categorically say that the two things which get a person moving are music and a certain caliber of teacher who understands how to connect even a simple set of moves to the music to create that magical of states called “flow”.

Without great music you cannot create great “flow”. You can still exercise but there will be no journey, no passion, no tension, no moment where you lose yourself in something that’s bigger than yourself.

There are PPL issues for broadcasters, which make this an expensive problem and in truth have probably delayed the real resource of exercising at home being more widely available. I think overall this is a shame as I see great efforts being made to create exercise for the viewer at home, but alas, with only tin music rattling away and workouts not being edited to the 8 count, even the most glamorous locations and beautiful presenters do not convince me of this being exercise as I know or teach it.

The thing, which connects our presenters to our viewers, is our presenters have passion. I love that they have passion. To the untrained eye it may be “just a little workout to music” but its not. It is about understanding the training, the practice, the drive, and the commitment, which these guys have put in, to be here before you now. In most cases (not all) the starting point was the feeling of connecting movement with music.

So, whilst I admire all out there aiming as we do to help others stay fit, I have got to say, our USP is not only that we can stream consistently well for any length of workout but that in being a streaming provider of exercise we can create that magic of all magic’s which is the connection with the music.

Priceless.

it is most definitely all about the music, the rhythm, the pace, the expression, from this comes so much. hence why we always say "if in doubt march it out" cos the music will get you thru a workout more than anything else.

To music is everything, in fact, i wouldn't exercise without it. The other tv station I had a look at has horrible music and just repeats the same stuff over and over again anyway.
