My youngest daughter is an old hand at helping with my writing assignments and she jumped at the chance to test the new kids’ fitness classes.
Izzy and I have already done the ThinQ Fitness ballet class a few times and she has joined in with Latino aerobics and had a good giggle at my hip moves. Some of the other classes are a little bit difficult for her to follow so we were excited about a specially targeted kids’ session.
We had great fun working through the routine, including scooping up puppies, wiping windows and, my personal favourite, squashing bugs. It was great to see that, when she didn’t have to worry about choreography, Izzy threw herself into the actions. We’re going to try Jayne Nicholls’ yoga for kids next.
It’s been difficult for me to find time to exercise this week as sick kids have been hogging the TV all day while in the evenings my other half has been transfixed by the 20:20 cricket. The “too tired to go to school bug” seemed to go on forever; just as one felt better, the next needed to have a duvet day. Sometimes, I’ve had to be content with getting the step out for a bit of aerobic exercise while they watched something else. I hoped that that the sound of me clattering away would drive them to leave the sofa and admit they were feeling better, but once they’ve taken root it’s difficult to shift them! At times like this, I wish I’d stepped into the 21st Century and set up a wireless network in the house.
I feel I’ve lost my momentum but have high hopes for this week. I was listening to a meditation CD yesterday and it said you can only start from where you are now. That struck a chord. There’s no point in feeling guilty about what I haven’t done, I’m just going to start again from today.
In my last blog, I wrote about plans to get up early to exercise before the school run. I’m afraid that when the 6.30am alarm went, I could only get my head off the pillow long enough to hit the snooze button; so it’s time for Plan B. This week, I’m going to schedule three classes, at slightly more civilised times, and put them on the family planner. I’m certain that my newly appointed nine year old personal trainer will make sure I keep to my word.
