Why am I hungry after my dinner

Posted in General by Nicole Davies

I am really trying to loose weight and I am really good all day, strict and disciplined but after my evening meal I am always really hungry again within about an hour and from then on I feel just sooooo peckish its untrue. I use will power, eat healthy snacks, eat unhealthy snacks, drink water, but nothing helps I just feel so hungry. Its getting me down as I feel like a freak.

This is usually dehydration girls....spearmint tea just does the trick and takes away the appetite cravings and makes you feel clean inside. LTC

I used to nibble but what helped me to control my nibbling was to suck ice cubes from a glass. They take so long to suck and eventually eat and the cracking and biting of ice seems to help satisfy that craving. JD

I am too, I just love nibbling. My grand kids call me The Gerbil. It makes no difference if I eat a lot or a little in the day, I just love to nibble in the evening, by the fire with a good book. I don't drink or smoke!

Hey girlies....can I join in :).....another suggestion from moi would be to buy yourself a bag of porridge oats and eat that for breakfast (obviously not the whole bag :) )made with water and into it tip frozen fruit such as blue berries, stir whilst cooking and enjoy, then for lunch have lean chicken, salad and fruit and around 4pm eat a bowl of cold porridge with semi skimmed milk and a chopped up banana and a handful of pine nuts, then your evening meal, lots of steamed veg and fish. keep the water up too. The only other thing I'd suggest is start taking Floradix which is a iron, vitamin supplement as if your lacking in something somewhere your body may keep directing you to eat in an effort to ingest it. Just a thought but anaemia in women is quite common due to menstruation so a top up and a healthy diet with lots of low gi food should help. Lucy Case Fitness Director

I'm no expert but maybe you aren't eating enough during the day? I know sometimes if I have eaten very little during the day then have my evening meal I often don't feel full. Perhaps try eating more at lunch time and less for evening meal? Personally I find I am least hungry if I 'graze' i.e. eat small amounts throughout the day and early evening but everyone is different. I hope you find a way of eating to suit you, good luck.
