We are delighted to introduce Jo Parry into the ThinQ Fitness fold of elite young International Presenters that don our modest pages. Jo has danced her whole life and realised from quite a young age that this was her true calling. She always wanted to have the education behind her though and in her early twenties studied to degree level health and Fitness and from here went on to build a career as both teacher and mentor to many up and coming teachers from all walks of life.
Jo is best known for her street dance which is an extremely tough skill to stay at the top in, so it is a credit to her hard work and passion that she holds such recognition as the Urban Funk IFS Presenter of the Year 2000.
Jo has a list of titles after her name: Action UK Female Presenter of the Year 2005, Face of Level 3 YMCA, Level 3 Advanced Teaching Course, and Presenter for Power Music International Team. It makes one quite out of breath just reading them!!!
With over 11 years in the Fitness Industry, Jo Parry’s zest for life is still as fresh as it was when she took those first tentative steps into the heady world of presenting, now as well as treading the boards at conventions world wide, she writes for publications, teaches on courses and in her spare time lets us drag her into the ThinQ Fitness studio to deliver something special for you guys.
What drives Jo?
“Seeing how things fit together, thinking a move looks impossible and then figuring out how to teach it, drives me to perfect my technique and my own skill.”
Why fitness is important to Jo?
“Without fitness this job becomes impossible fast…..to me to be fit means a certain amount of freedom as ones body can keep up with the demands placed on it.”
Jo’s fitness tips:
• Practice, practice and practice again, by which time you will be a bit better than you were, a bit fitter than you were and you will realise it was worth the effort.
• Break things down into chunks; don’t look at the big picture too often.
• Help others, it is not fitness based as such, but, if you encourage someone in a class, make a friend and have a laugh this will all help keep you wanting to go to your classes.
