Lucy taught her first classes, when she was in her late teens, for college students whilst dancing as a hobby at the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden. However, she rejected a career in fitness, in favour of an artistic career and went on to become an animator and graphic designer for TV. It was only later in life that she finally came back to dance and fitness, qualified as a teacher and then as a Personal Trainer. She now runs her own successful business the Body Fitness Company and has joined forces with ThinQ Fitness to become their Fitness Director and one of their fitness presenters.
Lucy is passionate about dance and fitness and believes strongly that it should be accessible to everyone.

Hi Helena, all exercise burns calories which potentially promotes fat-loss.
There is a difference in the experience and expectation of the participant however. A Hi Lo type class will have choreography as its means of creating movement and will be made up of High Impact and Low Impact moves (hence the term Hi Lo) however, there is no guarantee that this will keep you in full workout mode as during the teaching phases of choreography the heart rate although raised, will not be working at a rate to create a continual sweat.
Aerobics typically consists of basic moves linked together and traditionally this is viewed as a predominantly cardio-vascular workout. It received bad press in the past as the consistent use of High Impact moves was found to cause injuries and have a detrimental effect on joints.
The Fat-Loss class is designed to attract the viewer who wishes to avoid choreography (because it's too complex) and wishes to avoid aerobics (because of its association to being for extremely fit people). The Fat-Loss work outs are aimed at delivering easy, safe moves allowing the person to work consistently hard through either cardio or weights and maintaining it for an hour. The scientific specifics of which "zone" one should be in to promote using fat-stores as the energy source vary quite considerably and vary between person to person. I work on the basis of a good sweat, feeling the muscles working and tiring, regular, strong, breathing and feeling challenged. Any higher than that you potentially are in an aerobic only zone and any less is just gentle exercise. However, let's be clear, all exercise burns calories and potentially any of the 3 classes could burn fat for you depending on the level of effort you are putting in.
Hope this helps. Lucy
